The genetal herpes infection is caused by a virus which is of the group Herpes Simplex. It is either the HSV-1 or the HSV-2. HSV-1 is what usually causes cold sores in your mouth, something that most adults are infected by. HSV-2 used to be the most common virus in genital infections but recently the HSV-1 genital infections have increased and estimates now point towards nearly 50% of the genital herpies infections caused by the HSV-1 virus.
Genetal warts usually show up as tiny, flesh-colored bumps, frequently flat in shape. These wharts can develop (in the male case) either on the penis or in the anal area. Or in the area located from scrotum to penis. For women, genital warts can develop on the vulva, on the surface of the cervix or in the area of the vagina. Genatal warts can have varying sizes and they can even be so small that you can not see them. Genital wharts can in some cases cause cancers - penile cancer in men and cancer in the cervix in women.
Gential wharts are caused by HPV (human papilloma virus), a virus where there are many strains. Not all of the strains of the HPV can cause genitel warts. Genital warts is very contagious. Around 70% of all people having sex with an infected person will get a genetal warts infection which will show symptoms within a few months.
In the most cases, genitalwharts develop from one of two types of the HPV-virus, these are the strains 6 and 11. Some luck is that these two strains are also those with the best (lowest) potential to trigger cancers, something which in other cases is a danger if the condition is left untreated. Other types of the HPV-virus can also cause genital warts. One of these other strains is the HPV-16 which causes nearly 50% of all cervical cancer cases. There are also the further types (strains) 18,31 and 45 that (if the HPV-16 is included) account for more than 80% of all cancers that follow on genital warts.
Genital herpes is easily spread to a partner during unprotected sex. Most people who get gential herpes will get it during sex with someone who has an outbreak, or who is shedding the herpes virus - with or without symptoms. Since so many gential herpesgenital (genitile) herpies infections via objects such as toilet seats or tubs would be rare to improbable. infections can be asymptomatic, even during an outbreak or shedding, this is an important source of transmission of genitle herpes. The infection can also be transmitted during other close contact, via oral sex etc. The herpes virus has a very short life span outside the body so indirect
Genital herpies (gential herpes) is a condition brougt on by an infection from the herpes simplex virus. It is a highly contagious condition while there is an active outbreak, which it fortunately is not most of the time between outbreaks of the genatal herpees. Treatment of genetal herpes symptoms signs can be done, although there is no known cure that will remove the underlying virus infection so even if the herpes infection is treated, it is likely to recur at a later stage.
