Symptoms of herpes are typically sores and blisters in the genital area, in the rectal area or on buttocks (sometimes thighs), there may also be itching and tingling. In women, the blisters can occur inside the vagina or on the cervix. It can also occure in the urinary passage of both sexes. The blisters start off as small dimples, then develops into blisters which starts to itch, become painful and open sores, eventually develop a crust and then heal without leaving any scar.
There can also be a split, or a crack which also heals within a week or two without scarring.
The primary genital herpies outbreak can also be accompanied by symptoms such as fever, urination problems, discharges (vaginal), fever, headache and muscular ache. Swollen lymph nodes in the groin can also occur. These symptoms are less common in recurring genetal herpees outbreaks.
Oral herpes, or cold sores (latin: herpes labialis) is usually caused by HSV-1. It typically will affect mucous membranes and lips, there may also be external facial herpes signs on the cheeks but this is a more uncommon symptom.
The primary infection of oral herpes can be very painful. For small children it can be severe.
In children, the primary infection will normally occur in the mouth. In adults, it is more common to see the primary infection in the upper part of the throat, something which often causes a sore throat. Around 2-4 out of ten infected will see a recurrence within one year. The recurrence is typically milder than the original infection. This is what is known as "cold sores".
The primary infection results in an inflammation in the keratitis (cornea) which can cause blurred eyesight, corneal lesions and sudden pain. There may also be a layer of haze over the cornea and swelling around the eyes. The condition usually will heal in a few weeks.
Genital herpes will normally affect the vulva or penis and possibly also the anal area. The cause of genetal herpes is usually the HSV-2 virus although it is possible to have a HSV-1 genital infection, something that is currently on the increase. Current studies show that as many as 50% of the new genital herpes infections could now be from the HSV-1 virus. The treatment of gential herpees is identical though, no matter what strain of virus caused it.
The primary genitle herpies infection usually will occur somewhere in the genital areas within 2-7 days after the patient has been exposed to the virus. Male patients will usually get blisters on the shaft or head of penis and only in more rare cases they will appear further down at the base. Genitile herpies (herpees) symptoms summary.
Genital herpies (gential herpes) is a condition brougt on by an infection from the herpes simplex virus. It is a highly contagious condition while there is an active outbreak, which it fortunately is not most of the time between outbreaks of the genatal herpees. Treatment of genetal herpes symptoms signs can be done, although there is no known cure that will remove the underlying virus infection so even if the herpes infection is treated, it is likely to recur at a later stage.
